Optical Laboratory Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:

                Optical laboratory technicians grind and fit eyeglass lenses into frames by the way the prescriptions by the ophthalmologist or optometrists. Technicians set lens grinding machines so that the lens blanks are polished and ground. They then fit the lenses into the eyeglass frame and depending on where they work, fit frames to the patients. Some ophthalmic technicians work in optical laboratories. Most work in retail stores that have an optical department.

Average Salary: $15,000- $20,000

Educational Requirements:

           A high school diploma or a GED certificate is needed to begin training. Training programs are as long as six months and a year and they are provided by vocational schools and community colleges. Some retail optical departments provide training on the job.

Reflection: The job seems kind of difficult truthfully. I wouldn’t want to become this it is not of my interest.

The School Wide Assembly

The School Wide Assembly
I think that the assembly that happened this morning was
great because they were teaching us in a fun way how to
be respectful to our teachers, how to be organized, and
how to keep our school clean. I saw how much the
teachers really care and how much spirit and care they
have for us and the school. After watching the assembly I
think something I would do to more fully live the school
rules and regulations is to show more respect. I show
respect now but I would like to show more of it. If I see
someone picking up their papers from the floor I will help
them as well. It’s all about treating people the way you
would want someone to treat you. I will also pick up trash
whenever I see some. A dirty school is in no way okay.
This is a brand new school and I’m a brand new student
here. Just started high school this year, but that doesn’t
mean I wouldn’t want my school to be dirty. I have
another 3 or 4 more years here and I would like to go to a
clean school. Lastly I will be more organized. I am aware
that sometimes I get lazy and don’t organize but If I really
want to have good grades and do good in school it’s
going to be something I have to get used to doing. The
school assembly was a great teaching and a fun teaching
about how we are supposed to be throughout our high
school year. Some may have 1 others may have 4.
Doesn’t matter. We are greatness waiting to happen.
That’s our school motto and I truly believe it. The school
assembly was amazing and I’m glad they did it, not only
because it got me out of doing P.E, but because at least
now I know how to live through out the years I’m in high
school and I know how much my teachers and my
principal care about me. We are a very lucky school.

 “My Experience So Far at HPIAM”

My Experience so far at HPIAM is pretty good. It’s not as scary as I thought it would be considering I am a freshman. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be either just my math classes. This school is a really good school in my opinion. Its really clean and I know the teachers care about all of us. None of my teachers have been mean so im really happy about that. HPIAM is a really good school and I would recommend it to all my friends in HP. The school is really good because everyone try’s their best to help the students get to college. I think that’s really cool. So far there has not been any bullying so that’s really great. In my old schools there was a lot of bullying and im glad this one doesn’t have any. The people here are very nice and mature. Well only the ones who I’ve met and actually became friends with. I made lots of cool new friends and became a little less shy. I love all my classes I just have trouble in some of them. My Spanish and my math class are probably the only ones I really have trouble on but I’ll try my best in them. I haven’t had any bad experiences at this school witch is a really good sign to me. I thought It would be difficult. The teachers are really cool and nice witch is the best part for a student like me. Its hard for me to like school if I have mean teachers. I’ve been doing a great job and have had no problem with anyone. I really like this school and I’m glad I was put here because I will be spending my next 3 or 4 years in high school. I’m glad I can actually enjoy them.
