Optometrist

Optometrist
Duties and Responsibilities:
      Optometrist treat vision problems, they treat vision problems by diagnosing the problem and prescribing correct eyeglasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy. Some specialize in industrial vision safety, treatment of vision related learning disabilities and environmental vision care. They do not write medical prescriptions, treat disease, or perform surgery like ophthalmologists. Most are self-employed and work in hospitals, government agencies, optical manufacturers, or universities.
Average Salary: $78,000
Educational Requirements:
   If you are interested in becoming an optometrist you should take the most challenging high school courses available in math, science, and in English. Before entering a school for optometry you should take at least two years of college in a pre-professional program because it is required. Optometry school is four years in length. After being rewarded with a degree of Doctor of Optometry optometrist must pass state exams before beginning practice.

Reflection: No I would not like to be an optometrist because it is not in my interest.

Epidemiologist

                   Epidemiologist
Duties and Responsibilities:
             Epidemiologist studies the frequency and distribution of diseases within human populations and environments. Specifically, they measure the incidence of disease occurrence and relate it to different characteristic of population and environments. Epidemiologist preform research, education, and public health practice in universities, government agencies, international organizations, and private corporations. Epidemiologist often:
·      Work on developing or refining methods of measuring and evaluating disease occurrences.
·      Develop and recommend public health policy.
·      Study or research chronic diseases, infectious diseases, disease outbreaks, injuries, occupations, and environments.
Average Salary: $30,000-$50,000
Educational Requirements:
Students should take the most challenging high school courses (including AP or IB courses) available in science, math, and English.
Epidemiologist have, as a minimum master’s degrees in public health. Undergraduate requirements for admissions into public health graduate programs vary by schools but usually include strong backgrounds in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and or statistics.
