Student Success Statement

“Obedience is the great test of life.”

             Thomas S. Monson

Reflection:

          I totally agree that obedience is a test of life. We really aren’t going to get anywhere in life with disobedience, it just leads to some of the worst things ever. I think the end of this test just shows the result of how responsible you were in life and how much you loves God. To me, I obey God because he is worth obeying. I hear a lot of people complaining about how theres so much crime and bad things going on in the world, and honestly it’s because of the lack of obedience people have to the law, and to God. If people were to obey the law, then there would be no dead people, no murders, if people were to obey God, there wouldn’t be evil, there would be peace just like everyone wants. This life is something that is temporary. Maybe I don’t agree with everything people tell me to do, but I’ll do anything that I know is right. Being obedient should not be put as a whole “What if someone orders me to do drugs?” Okay well, then don’t obey that. We want the best for our life and for our world then be obedient to the things you know are right. Be obedient to God and be obedient in life because it brings a lot of blessings. When you disobey, like for example murder, witch is against the law and against the commandments of God, whats going to happen? You go to jail. That’s not something good. Trust me there are so many good things that happen with obedience. The right obedience. Obey God.

Reflection:

        Our entire life we have to obey someone, or something. We have Parents, laws, police, judges, doctors, we have a lot of people in this world we have to obey. Its our duty. Right now my life is based on obeying God, my parents, and everyone who has authority over me, even laws. It sums up our duty because our duty down here on earth is to fufill Gods will, to make sure his plans are done. We have to obey him our entire lives, so it sums up our duty. When we become rebellious we aren’t doing nothing, no work, no duty. We will not be summed up at the end. Not being obedient actually affects us as humans a lot, if there were no obedience I could tell you there would be so many people dead by now, so many. Obedience is something we all want people to have. You want your future kids to be obedient to you, you want your boss to, and sometimes we want our parents to do what we tell them to do. And when they don’t we get really angry. Now why would someone be obedient to you when you don’t even want to do the same. Obedience is a way of life, not a bad one. It’s not blackmail and its not unfair. Obey God, and obey everyone around you, blessings come J.

“Courage is being scared to death and doing the right thing anyway.”

Reflection: I believe and I know so well that fear can take over people because its roaming around us waiting for it to actually be used. I’m scared of things, everyone is scared of things. I’ve seen a lot of people who have let fear control them, they were scared to death. That feeling lead them to do something wrong. If you’re scared to death of not fitting in, some people are willing to smoke weed or go to parties and do other things people say are cool just because they are so scared to death of not fitting in. That’s just one example. There are so many bad things people do because they are scared to death. What I’m scared of mostly is God. It’s a good kind of fear, fearing God is what makes me have courage. Maybe some people who don’t believe, you don’t want to fear God but fear everything bad that can happen to you. Be scared to death of the consquences. Being scared of negative things makes us want to get closer to the positive things. For me, I fear God, he’s not negative but I fear him because my entire life in his hands and I’m scared of loosing him and I don’t want to disobey him. I’m scared of the negative things in this world because I know that things won’t come out well with my life here on earth and how I might end up when my judgement from God comes. But really, think about the negative things, fear doing those because it gives you courage to do the right things. If you’re scared of doing the right thing, do it, that’s what makes you stronger.

            “The best way to predict your future is to create it”

Reflection: Our goals, our dreams, our choices are what come for us later in life. My dream is to go to USC and to become a writer. For now im just bettering myself in my writing but that is my dream. We start creating our future the moment we say what we want to do. Eventually you’ll work hard on it and it will become your future. Most people predict their weddings when they are so young and when they grow up they are married. They created their future. If you say you’re going to do something you do it. We create what we want in life. We cannot create our future on our own because well we did not create the things that happen to us in the future, at least not all. God has already created our future. We have to learn to declare stuff to our lives. We can declare good things because once you declare something you already have it. Our words have authority. The reason it is best to predict our future by creating it is because we do not just want to predict what’s going to happen and instead something totally different happens we want to create what’s going to happen as we grow up and as we live. Predictions are just what we think, but creating is something that will last forever.
