Student Success Statement: Sophocles

Student Success Statement
“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”
                             Sophocles
Honestly, no matter be honorable. In everything and all the time, doesn’t matter if somebody sees it or not. No one has to recognize how much honor you have, only God, yourself, your family. And even if they don’t see it who cares? At least you’re going the right way. For example, a test, you know very well that if you pass that test you will be honored and given a scholarship  but if you don’t you will get no recognition. So you cheat and you get honored, get treated like a winner, but you know very well yourself that you aren’t a winner, you cheated. But let’s say you don’t cheat, so you fail the test, you have another chance. There are other things that are greater coming your way. And even if you were not treated like a prince or princess because you passed and aren’t told, “Good job” God is proud of you, because even though you failed, you didn’t fail to have honor. Being honorable is being real, doing the right thing. I honor my God by loving him all the time, I honor my parents by obeying them. Now honor yourself, this country, your school, friends, family, teachers, no matter what because when you honor them you are showing your good self and are honoring yourself. In a good way though not a conceited way. What I’m saying is that you should be honorable, one day you are going to be a mother or a father, and you would want your kids to honor you. So honor everyone, honor yourself. And have honor. Choose the right always.

Student Success Statement: A proverb

Student Success Statement
“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
            A proverb
Reflection:

I actually agree a lot with this proverb. If I look back at the people I used to hang out with I used to be just like them. Saying I hated everyone and how people were annoying. I didn’t do things but I said things that I deeply regret. At times I would feel depressed and bitter. Thankfully that’s not me anymore. I started going to the youth group at my church and those people, all of them, they are my dear friends. Once I started going there and I hung out with them a lot of good things happened, my additude changed, I was more inspired to start a relationship with God. The fact that they are led by the same God, and that we believe the same thing and just have a passion for him is what brings us together. Let me tell you one thing, I love all of them to death. They are there to help me. They are the kindest people I have met. I have also started making cool new friends at school , I hang out with a great group of friends that I love just as much as my youth group. I don’t let anyone influence me, no one, I am spirit led and I know who I am in Christ and I know that I shouldn’t do what is wrong. Watch out with the people you hang out with, when you are around so much negativity it can affect you just like if you go to a haunted house, if you go the negativity that’s inside the house will begin to effect you and then fear comes. So when negativity comes around the people you are with, that’s what affects you. I love everyone, I have learned to love everyone, I do not judge and I do not just hang out with innocent people. I know people who always do bad things but just as long as they don’t tell me to do it it’s okay. Ill be friends with anyone, and so can you, just be careful. Find out who you are first because its eaiser to find out who you are, then you start to figure out who you want to hang out with. Choose the right. Always.

Abraham Lincoln Video

Abraham Lincoln Video
In the video Abraham Lincoln was asked by a man he was traveling with if he wanted some whisky. He denied  it. Then after was asked if he would smoke a ciggarete with him. He denied it again, Two things were thrwon at him, the whiskey, and the cigarrete. But he denied them both becasue he said when he was 9 years old his mother was very ill and she told him she was told by the doctor she would never get better. So she made him promise not to ever use whiskey or tabocco. He promised her and he told them man he was going to keep that promise. I make promises to God, one of my biggest problems is that i eat way to many hot chettohs, they make me very sick and iw as told by the doctor that i had to control it or i was at risk of getting cancer. I was diagnosed with acid reflux disease at a young age because i was eating way to many of thoose chips. I had bad heartburn and felt like throwing up all the time. And i was only in the second grade. Now that i'm older i want to take care of myself so i make a promise to a God and say "i promise i won't eat them for a month." I do it. Sometimes not even a month but 3. I do it not by my own strength but the strength he gives me. When i make a promise like that and i go to the store to go buy some chips or when im offered thoose, i get really tempted. But i don't break the promise becasue i do not want to harm myself and also break a promise with God. Abrham Lincoln got his strength from God, and i believe that. By him we can resist all temptation. Even though sometimes we fall, a promise like that should never be broken. Promises to parents, adults, family, friends, yourself, and to God. Never break a promise.
