          A sport medicine doctor treats sport or athletic related injuries. They also prescribe and administer patient medications and monitor patients during sport events or physical activity and preform tests and prescribe medication and treatment that is necessary. They also consult with patients to determine the right course of treatment.
Salary: $148,419- $307,711
Educational:
          To become a Sports Medicine Doctor it is required to have a degree in medicine from a accredited school and that is licensed in practice. It may require a minimum of at least 2-4 years of sports medicine experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Reflection:

          It is an interesting job. Maybe in the future I might think about becoming this. J

Acupuncture

Acupuncture
Duties and Responsibilities:
        Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. In the US practitioners incorporate healing traditions from China, Japan, Korea, and other places. Acupuncture is considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. An acupuncturist is a health practitioner who takes holistic approach to maintenance of health and the management of disease also focusing on a person’s wellbeing. They make diagnosis and make a treatment plan, take pulse examinations and tounge to aid diagnosis, and they insert fine needles into the patient’s skin at certain places to stimulate the energy flow along meridians.
Average Salary: $45,000
Educational Requirements:
        This area is open to all graduates although a degree or HND in life/medical science may increase your chances. A degree is not necessarily a compulsory requirement for entry to training and many students who do acupuncture have no academic qualifications. Also knowledge of biological science is helpful but the attitude and personal qualities are important.
Reflection:
         I would like to become this. My dad had to take this type of therapy all the time. He had messed up his hand so I would love to do what they did to my dad to other people as a way of giving thanks because that helped him a lot.

Oral Care Professional


Oral Care Professional
Duties and Responsibilities:
        Some of the main types of service an oral care professional’s offer are prevention, education, and treatment. When they are seen they examine a patient’s gums and teeth for potential oral problems. They will tell the patient on how to maintain a good oral hygiene, like how to floss or choosing the tight tooth brush. They may also develop a care plan for the patient to take home. And if it is needed they might be required to remove hard and soft deposits of stains, tartar, and also plaque from the teeth. In some cases they may also administer anesthetics, prepare for filling materials, and remove sutures.
Salary: $34,750-$70,210
Educational Requirements:
        A high school diploma and college entrance test scores are sometimes required for admission to a program. The person has to be 18 years of age. The program or Associates degree is only 2 years. The route is mostly taken by students and some students might choose a 4-year bachelor’s degree that allows them to expand their clinical expertise and advance faster in their careers. Master’s degrees are also offered.

        Dental technicians are part of the dental team who construct custom made restorative and dental appliances. The dentist talks to the dental technician with prescriptions, drawings, and measurements from the patient. The most important thing they do is create a replica of the patients anatomy known as a dental model. They use the model for the construction of custom appliances.

Educational Requirements:
        You must have a working knowledge of the English language and have not been found guilty of practicing dentistry illegally. You must also pass three complete examinations taken in any order with a four year period. After those four years the RG would need to take and pass all the examinations to acheve the CDT status.

They often work in doctor’s offices, clinics, long-term care facilities, and outpatient facilities. The duties of a clinical manager are managing clinical. Professional, administrative, and clinical staff; managing the recruitment, develop of, and appraisal staff. They also make purchasing decisions.

Educational Requirements:
        Depending on the workplace and also the exact demands of the position the educational requirements may vary. You’ll need at least a bachelor’s degree in a field like medical services, administration, or health care administration.

Speech Pathologist

Speech Pathologist
Duties and Responsibilities:
        Speech pathologist assesses, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent communication and also swallowing disorders in patients. Language, speech, and swallowing disorders come from a result of some causes like a stroke, brain injury, and hearing loss. They try and communicate with patients to evaluate their speech levels. They also create and carry out an individualized treatment plan for the patient. The patient gets taught how to make noises and improve their voices.

Educational Requirements:
        To become a speech pathologist you must have a master’s degree. Some master’s programs do not specify undergraduate degree for admission but certain courses must be taken before entering the program. It is required to have a master’s degree in order to be licensed.

Reflection: I would like to become one because I have seen some of my friends not have the ability to talk well and I would like to help other people just as much as I help my friends.

     Sonographers use sound waves to generate images that are used for assessing and diagnosing various medical conditions. Most work with people who are pregnant, their job is to see how the fetus looks in the womb. The technology is used for diagnosing other kinds of medical conditions in the abdomen, breast, heart, and blood vessel. They use equipment like X ray, MRI, CAT scans and nuclear medicine studies.
Average Salary: $53,000-$75,000
Educational Requirements:
        Sonographers can train in hospitals, vocational- technical institutions, colleges and universities and also the military, Some educational programs prefer applicants who have experience in other health professions, while others consider high school graduates with courses in math and science.

Reflection: I think I would like to be one. The job seems pretty interesting.

      To become a recreation therapist a person must have a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or a related field. A bachelor’s degree program usually include an internship.

Reflection: Yes I would like to become this. I once had a therapist and I enjoyed and appreciated her work. I would someday like to help someone who had the same disorder I had. I am interested in this job

Thoracic Surgeon

Thoracic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibilities:
        Thoracic Surgeons remove portions of the lings that contain cancer, eg, lobectomy, and pneumonectomy. They also remove parts of the esophagus that contains cancer and reconstruction of the gastrointestinal or esophagogastrectomy. Thoracic surgeons also do lung transplants. Thoracic surgeons are medical doctors who perform operations to the lings, heart, esophagus, and oher organs that are in the chest area.
Average Salary: $473,927- $567,171
Educational Requirements:
         Must graduate from medical school and most commonly will complete a five-year general surgery residency. They must be approved through a cardiothoracic surgery residency program that is either two or three years. Some might choose additional training and it is very optional.

        Reflection: It was really hard to understand and research for this job but either way I would not like to become one because I am very afraid of doing surgery on anyone. It would be scary.

Radiologic Technologist

Duties and Responsibilities:
    Radiologic technologist use x- ray machines, ultrasound machines, magnetic resonance scanners, and other advanced technology to help diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries under the direction of a physician. Radiological Technologist are responsible for explaining and getting a patient ready for any radiological test and treatment that will be performed. They place any equipment they will be using at the right distance and right angle for the patient to view appropriate images for the physician. They also assist sophisticated procedures. It is also their responsibility that the equipment they will be using is to be properly maintained. Radiological Technologist work in clinics, hospitals, laboratories, nursing homes, and in private industry.

Educational Requirements:
     Students who are interested in becoming this must take the most challenging science, math, and English courses that are available in high school. To become a registered radiological technologist a complete two year training program in a hospital or school is a must.            A radiation therapist assists radiologists and onocologist (cancer specialist) in treating diseases by exposing certain areas of a patients’ body to ionizing radiation. In addition to them helping with treatments, they are responsible for maintaining the radiation therapy equipment and helping maintain the patient records. This is provided in hospitals, public health clinics, cancer treatment centers, and private offices.

Educational Requirements:
     Students who want to become Radiation therapists should take the most challenging courses in science, math, and English that is available at their high school. They can be trained to become a radiation therapist in either a one or two year program. A one year program, the applicant must have graduated from an approved program in radiologic technology or been a nurse with education in radiation physics. A high school diploma or a GED is required to enter a course that is of two years.

Psychologist provides therapy and counseling to those with emotional, learning, and behavior problems, Psychologist work in schools, clinics, hospitals, and also private practice. Their job is to diagnose and treat the problems, develop administering test, counseling the patients, groups, and families, develop mental health programs, and conduct research and teaching.

Educational Requirements:
               Students who want to become psychologist should prepare for a career in psychology by taking the most challenging high school courses that are available. Especially in English and in science. A licensed psychologist must earn a Ph.D. in psychology. Admission to graduate programs is different dependent on the quality of undergraduate performance in a psychology major. Clinical psychologist must complete a two year supervised internship after they earn their doctorate and pass oral and also written state qualifying exams, they should at least earn a masters’ degree.

Duties and Responsibilities:
       Psychiatric aide technicians observe a patients behavior, listens to their concerns and also record the patient’s condition. They also help patients with their daily lives with bathing, dressing, and eating as well. When a patient becomes physically violent they restraint them. They also serve meals, and keep the facilities clean by doing things like changing the bed linens and cleaning anything that is dirty.
Average Salary: $30,050
Education:

If a student wants to become this they should take programs that include biology, psychology, and also counseling. They programs may include supervised work experience or cooperative programs where students will gain academic credit for structured work experience. These programs range from a length of 1 semester to 2 years and they may also award a certificate or a associate’s degree. They need a high school diploma or equivalent.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
       Pharmacy technicians work in pharmacies under the control of a pharmacist. Their main responsibility is filling perscriptions according to the doctors’ order for the patient. They measure out the correct amounts of medication from larger containers to prescription sized containers. They also add drugs to intravenous solutions. All of their prescription filling work is checked again before the medication is given to the patients or customers. Other things they also do other things like:
·       Check inventories and ordering supplies.
·       Receive and checking supplies.
·       Waiting on customers.
·       Keeping pharmacy work areas clean.
And helping fill out insurance forms.
They work in retail pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and some large industrial complexes.
Average Salary: $15,000- $25,000
Educational Requirements:
       People who want to become a Pharmacy Technician should take science (especially chemistry), and typing courses In high school. A high school diploma is required to begin pharmacy technician training. Two year courses leading to certificates are available at most community colleges. Although six month programs are offered at privately operated schools.

No I would not want to become this because I do not want to take a challenging course in math. Math has never been my thing so It would be difficult for me. J

Pharmacist

Duties and Responsibilities:
           Pharmacists prepare or compound prescriptions written by a physician, dentist, and any other practitioner. They review the prescriptions to validate their accuracy and then prepare the medication. This can involve weighing, measuring, and mixing drugs. Once they are prepared they dispense them to customers and patients. They also answer questions from the customers’ and patients’ about the drugs they are taking and also the drugs that are sold over the counter. Some take over the inventory of the drugs on the shelves and ordering any witch they are running low on. Pharmacist work in hospitals, clinics, health departments, universities, and grocery, drug, and discount stores.
Average Salary: $33,000-$51,000
Educational Requirements:

           Students should take the most challenging high school classes in English, science, and math. Including AP or IB. They must all graduate from a college of pharmacy. Most pharmacy schools require applicants to take the Pharmacy College Admissions Text and some require up to two years of pre-pharmacy education. Some colleges may also admit students directly from high school. It usually takes at least five years to earn a pharmacy degree.
