Duties and Responsibilities:
A radiation therapist assists radiologists
and onocologist (cancer specialist) in treating diseases by exposing certain
areas of a patients’ body to ionizing radiation. In addition to them helping with
treatments, they are responsible for maintaining the radiation therapy
equipment and helping maintain the patient records. This is provided in
hospitals, public health clinics, cancer treatment centers, and private
offices.
Average Salary: $22,000-$36,000
Educational Requirements:
Students who want to become Radiation
therapists should take the most challenging courses in science, math, and
English that is available at their high school. They can be trained to become a
radiation therapist in either a one or two year program. A one year program,
the applicant must have graduated from an approved program in radiologic
technology or been a nurse with education in radiation physics. A high school
diploma or a GED is required to enter a course that is of two years.
Reflection: No I would not like to become this because it
is not in my interest. L
