Thoracic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibilities:
Thoracic
Surgeons remove portions of the lings that contain cancer, eg, lobectomy, and
pneumonectomy. They also remove parts of the esophagus that contains cancer and
reconstruction of the gastrointestinal or esophagogastrectomy. Thoracic surgeons
also do lung transplants. Thoracic surgeons are medical doctors who perform
operations to the lings, heart, esophagus, and oher organs that are in the
chest area.
Average Salary:
$473,927- $567,171
Educational Requirements:
Must graduate from medical school and most
commonly will complete a five-year general surgery residency. They must be
approved through a cardiothoracic surgery residency program that is either two
or three years. Some might choose additional training and it is very optional.
Reflection: It was really hard to understand and
research for this job but either way I would not like to become one because I am
very afraid of doing surgery on anyone. It would be scary.
