Acupuncture
Acupuncture
is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. In the US practitioners
incorporate healing traditions from China, Japan, Korea, and other places.
Acupuncture is considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. An
acupuncturist is a health practitioner who takes holistic approach to maintenance
of health and the management of disease also focusing on a person’s wellbeing.
They make diagnosis and make a treatment plan, take pulse examinations and
tounge to aid diagnosis, and they insert fine needles into the patient’s skin
at certain places to stimulate the energy flow along meridians.
Average Salary:
$45,000
Educational Requirements:
This
area is open to all graduates although a degree or HND in life/medical science
may increase your chances. A degree is not necessarily a compulsory requirement
for entry to training and many students who do acupuncture have no academic
qualifications. Also knowledge of biological science is helpful but the attitude
and personal qualities are important.
Reflection:
I
would like to become this. My dad had to take this type of therapy all the
time. He had messed up his hand so I would love to do what they did to my dad
to other people as a way of giving thanks because that helped him a lot.
