Orthotist
Duties and
Responsibilities:
They design and make
replacement limbs. Orthotist work with patients that need extra support for
their spine, limbs, or muscles. They deign, make and fit apparatuses made of
plastic, wood, leather, and metal to help strengthen or replace some body
parts. Also they make and fit devices that help align the limbs that have not
grown properly. Orthotist work in clinics or may also have their own private business.
Educational
Requirements
Whoever wants to be a orthotist should
take challenging science, math, and English courses in high school. Some
colleges or universities offer bachelors degrees in orthotic programs. The
programs include courses in anatomy, physics, math, mechanical drawing, and the
use of materials used in the making of the devices. After a year of experience
you can apply for certification. J
Reflection:
I wouldn’t want to become this because it seems hard and I really don’t know
how to draw but I appreciate people who have this job because they help other
people who need help. J
