Patient Representative
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient
representatives work for healthcare administrators to address the concerns and
special needs of patients and also their families. They evaluate the patient’s
satisfaction, investigate complaints, collect information about the patient’s dissatisfaction,
work to help resolve patient problems, and educate staff. They work in
hospitals, nursing homes, or any health care facilities that are long term.
Also in public health agencies.
Average Salary: $20,000-$40,000
Educational Requirements:
Students who want to become Patient Representatives should take
challenging high school courses in business, science, math , and English.
Requirements differ but most people who employ prefer college graduates with
backgrounds in health or any social services. Experience or course work in
conflict resolution is also important and valued.
Reflection: I would enjoy being this because I get
to hear what other people have to say and try and fix any problem they have.
