Student Success Statement: What you see is what you get.

Student Success Statement
“Visualization- Imagination: What you see is what you get.”
                                   Anonymous
Reflection:

Have you ever really looked at yourself in the mirror for a good cause? I know from my own experience and from also seeing other people do it that they like to look in the mirror and look down upon themselves. They look down upon anything. They do not look at the world, or look at anything in a positive way. The way we see things and what we say is what we are going to get because we are asking for it. Lets say you say something like “My life sucks.” Don’t say that. Your words have authority and you’re calling a sucky life upon yourself. With our eyes, it’s the same thing. If we see something, perhaps a certain adversity in a negative way then it’s never going to get better because you are looking at it and expecting nothing to get better. My mom has always told me never to look at my pimples a lot in the mirror because she says that we make ourselves see what we want. If I see a huge disgusting pimple that’s what im going to see because I keep looking at it to long. With life, if its going tough right now don’t give up just look at all the wonderful things you have and stop looking at the negative because if that is all you’re looking at then that’s what you will get.

Student Success Statement: William Wykeham

                                             Student Success Statement
                                               "Manners maketh man."
                                                   William Wykeham
Reflection: So if the queen of england decides to invite you to dinner at her palcace are you going to treat her wrong? Manners are something that make up who we are, they buld our charecteristics. Having manners is being respectuful. A person who has manners would go to that dinner and eat properly, sit correctly, speak correctly. Are you really going to be saying bad words and saying perverted things in front of the queen? Okay well heres the thing. We should be ourselves but we goota learn to have manners. Girls like guys who have manners. A man who has manners knows to respect his wife, his girlfriend, knows  how to respect his parents. What kind of girl wants a guy whos just gonna sit around doing nothing but saying dirty things to her and never helping her out with what needs to be done. Manners make up a man and a women. We must treat eachother with respect. Some people see manners as only something that last a period of time and they say things like "oh i can't be myself around them." You can be yourself around people but have manners. If theres a girl around don't be talking perverted things. If there is a man around don't start telling him things. RESPECT.

Student Success Statement: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

                     Student Success Statement
“Cowardice asks the question ‘Is it safe?’
Expediency asks the question ‘Is it politic?’
Vanity asks the question ‘Is it popular?’
But, conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ and there comes a time when one must take a position that I neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one’s conscience tells one that it is right.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Reflection: Everyone in the world has a conscience that they do or don’t follow. The biggest problem I see now days is the problem that instead of people following what they know is right or wrong they follow what the world offers them. What Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is trying to tell us is that there will be a time when we have to choose to do the right thing no matter how unpopular or scary it might be. It might not be safe, might not be political, it might not be popular, but it’s always right. The world offers you drugs and offers you money and offers the worst things sometimes. Why should we take up that offer when we know that it is wrong? I know that in my heart if I was ever offered drugs I would say know because I know in my gear that they are wrong. Now some people don’t care if it’s wrong they just want to look cool. The conscience is always right, I know some say that we should follow our hearts but our hear t can deceive us and will tell us what we want. It wants us to do the right thing but our conscience looks out for us and says ‘No’. I’m not saying the heart is bad but don’t always follow it because the heart can be deceiving. Just always do what is right no matter what.

Student Success Statement: Abraham Lincoln

                        Student Success Statement
“Let us have faith that right makes right, and in that faith let us to end dare to do out duty to as we understand it.”
                                        Abraham Lincoln

Reflection: We as a group of people, and by group I do mean the whole world, should have faith that doing the right thing is always going to be right. Suppose your friend robbed a bank and he begs you to not say a word to anyone, you know that in your heart I is the right thing to tell the police. You know it’s right because your friend had no right to take away the money he did not earn but other people worked hard for. You have faith that it’s the right thing to do. I always believed that is you ever felt like something you did made you feel even the slightest guilty its because yea in a way it is wrong. You know sometimes In life we don’t understand why we have to do the right thing. I get it. Why do I have to be nice to the person who called me a name? Why cant I call him something back? Why cant I beat him up like he beat me up? Why? We have to dare and understand it. No matter how confusing or how much it seems stupid, it’s the right thing. You don’t call that person a name because then you will just be putting more fire into the fire. You don’t beat up the person because he beat you up because you will be just like him. You could put him in a hospital. We just have to understand and have faith that everything that is right is right. For a reason.

                       Student Success Statement
“Right is right only when entire.”
                                 Victor Hugo

Reflection: Doing the right thing is when you do something that’s 100% right. You can’t possibly do a little part of it right. For example, you can’t cook something with it being only a little bit right. The whole dinner has to be cooked right in order to have good taste and also for the food not to make anybody sick. Which leads to my point, we have to do everything 100% right. I’m not saying that we are never going to fail or we must feel pressure to make anything or any of our descicions perfect because I know for a fact that we are not perfect. I’m saying that we need to base our entire lives on doing right. Have a mind set that wants to do good things and not bad things. It’s almost like me going to church and being all in love with God there and then coming out and doing drugs when I’m no longer at church. I do only a portion of the things right. But when we want to do things right it is only right if everything is right. I hope you understand my point. This quote confused me but this is honestly the way I see it.

Student Success Statement: President Calvin Coolidge

                            Student Success Statement
“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence.
TALENT will not; nothing is more common that unsuccessful men with talent
GENIUS will not; unrewarded geniuses is almost a proverb.
EDUCATION will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
                     President Calvin Coolidge
                30th president of the US (1872- 1933)
Reflection: The president is right, persistence can’t be replaced by anything else. Talent, because there are a lot of talented people who are either too lazy to use it or are never noticed and they give up on it. Genius, because most of them can be hidden. Education, because so many of us come to school and don’t even care we just go because we have to, or also in some cases we are educated but because suppose we don’t understand math we give up on it. The only two things that can really get you into doing well is persistence and determination, because they are both strong and hard things to do. But it is possible because with God all things are possible. Persistence is almost like being still, you’re right there standing on the water nearly losing your balance but something tells you “no stay still and you won’t fall.” It’s hard but if you just stay still and determine that you are you can last so long right there you make it. God tells us to be still. Determination is also hard because let’s say you’re determined to getting a husky as a dog but then you see this other cute puppy and loose your focus, we can easily do that with life once negativity strikes. Once adversity does, once drugs and drinking and sex and parties start coming. That person you were who was so determined into getting into a certain university became distracted with other stuff that seemed fun. Persistence is when you are trying hard and hard and even though you fail you still decide to keep going. You just keep going and Be Still. In the end it’s all going to be worth it anyways. You want to sing, keep going. You want to play soccer but you’re not so good right now? Keep playing. Do you want to mark history in the world? Keep going. Be persistent, be still, and be determined. The celebration is on the other side of the tunnel. It’s not that hard to run to it.

Student Success Statement:Matt Biondi

Student Success Statement
“Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.”
                                   Matt Biondi
   Olympic Gold Medal Winner,
         World Record Holder

Reflection: Taking our time to practice and putting effort in what we want to do is something that will reward us greatly. I’m pretty sure in the beginning Matt didn’t know how to swim that good enough to have a record, but in the end of all his practice and all the effort he put into his swimming, he finally did it. He achieved a record in the Olympics. Sometimes we start off as failures when we try to achieve our dreams and some of us end up giving up because you are so tired of trying. I know things can get tiring but the more you go on and the more you work hard for what you want you can and will get it. I’m a writer and I know I’ m not all that great and yea sometimes I get frustrated but I eventually will get better as the years go by. I just don’t have to give up. What good does giving up bring? It brings nothing but regret in your heart because as you grow up you’re going to be thinking “man I should’ve tried.” Matt worked so hard to have that record and to win. He’s a human being, I’m a human being,  you’re a human being. Why can’t we do that? Practice makes perfect. So instead of complaining about the things we can’t do now do whatever it is you can because that will reward you with something great.

Student Success Statement: Lou Holtz

The answers to these questions will determine your success or failure:
1. Can people trust me to do what's right?
~ Honestly yes. I don't really like to do bad things, maybe i have trouble doing things right but it doesn't matter. Somtimes doing whats right is hard but in the end its always right. I may mess up just a little bit but trust me i do what's right. I am very loyal with everyone. I am super nice to people and im always there to help and to listen, to pray and to be someone for them to lean on just like jesus is for us.
2. Am i commited to doing my very best?
~Yes. i am commited, in every way. But only on acual important things. I don't like to give up and if i say i give up its mostly on small things like a game or something or maybe on a math question. Honestly though i have learned to be more commited into the things i want to do. Like my dream is become a misnister one day but i have to stay commited to my God and i have to stay commited on doing things right.
3. Do i treat people the way i want to be treated?
~Major yes to this. I don't like being mean to people, i can't. I'm a very sweet and nice person and i love helping people out. I don't hate anyone and i don't have any enemies. I respect everyone inclduing my teachers becasue they take their time and use all their time to teach me so that i can reach my dreams and have a better future. I really appreciate that. And i love all those around me, evern though i don't know them, i believe everyone is good in their own way. I don't hate. I just treat people gthe way i didn't like being treated when i was bullied.
Lou Holtz "If the answers to these questions are YES,there is no way you can fail."

Student Success Statement: Bud Greenspan

Student Success Statement
"Never look to the ground for your next step. Greatness belongs to thoese who look to the horizon"
                                              Bud Greenspan
Reflection: When you look at the horizon it looks beautiful, it looks peacful, althugh there may be some ugly things here and there it is still beautiful in your eyes in your own way. In life there are many bad things that can and will happen but we have to keep our head up. With our head down we might take the next step and keep falling. For example when you're walking and you just look down at the ground and never look up you might bump into someone, you might fall, you might get hit, you might get pushed, but you don't notice because you are looking at the ground. Lool up at the sky, You can't see God but just believe he's up there, look at all the beautiful things. Sometimes we do go through tough times in life but our future won't be so ruined because of it unless we fix it. Look at the horizon and be at peace. Dance in the rain when there is a storm. Reality is you will ge nowhere walking around feeling bad for yourself, being lazy. Have faith and be courageous, i know that the future is something we have to work hard for but in the end its all worth it. We all have greatness inside of us, and we all have a talent and potential that God has given us for a reason. We are all greatness wiating to happen. For all we know you might be the person to invent a cure for cancer but unless you keep your head held high and stay strong no matter what goes on i can assure you that you will get truly blessed.

Student Success Statement: John F. Kennedy

                                             Student Success Statement
"Physical fitness is not the only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mindis subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know that the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong."
                        President John F. Kennedy

Reflection:  We have to be healthy in order to do what we want to do in the future. We all have great intelligence and potential and we all have our own dreams for a purpose that only God knows. Physical fitness is not something people should do just to loose weight and stuff but to also have a healthy body and to be able to have our body be activated. We only have this body for a short time and we only stay down here on earth once, we have to be healthy in order to do what we want. How are we supposed to follow our dreams if we are just laying down on the couch, or if you don't take care of your body how are you supposed to do the things you want to do when you're sick? We can't do amazing things from our death bed. Skills come from physcial fitness, like we can become really fast runners and that can be our skill. We can become really strong that can be one to. It's a source of creativity where you use your arms, your legs, your entire body to do what you want to do. When you're painting a picture you're using your arms, when you're dancing on stage you're using your legs, when you're readin and writing you're using your brain. We use our body for everything we do. Be physiclly active and you won't just be healthier but you will gain many skills and a huge amount of creaitivty.

Student Success Statement: Charles Ketterer

                   Student Success Statement
“The best way to predict your future is to create it”
                                                                  Charles Ketterer

Reflection: Our goals, our dreams, our choices are what come for us later in life. My dream is to go to USC and to become a writer. For now im just bettering myself in my writing but that is my dream. We start creating our future the moment we say what we want to do. Eventually you’ll work hard on it and it will become your future. Most people predict their weddings when they are so young and when they grow up they are married. They created their future. If you say you’re going to do something you do it. We create what we want in life. We cannot create our future on our own because well we did not create the things that happen to us in the future, at least not all. God has already created our future. We have to learn to declare stuff to our lives. We can declare good things because once you declare something you already have it. Our words have authority. The reason it is best to predict our future by creating it is because we do not just want to predict what’s going to happen and instead something totally different happens we want to create what’s going to happen as we grow up and as we live. Predictions are just what we think, but creating is something that will last forever.

Student Success Statement: Pablo Picasso

                Student Success Statement
“Action is the foundational key to all success”
                                    Pablo Picasso
Reflection: Action is honestly the only way we can succeed the things we want to do in life. If we take action to reach for what we want to do then it will come true. Success does not just come to us like our friends do everyday. We have to work hard for what we want to do. We have to work hard to make our dreams come true. We can’t just la around hoping. Hope is a good thing but it also takes faith, and faith is also an action. How do we expect to get better at things. Yea I know some people are born with natural talents but they have to keep working to keep that talent. Honestly if we do not take action we will not get anywhere in life. For example let’s say you are in the middle of a street and there was a car coming your way, what are you going to do? Stand there and let the car run you over or are you going to take action and move away? Action is what makes us successful. Not being lazy. Choose the right way in life and don’t except always do. Action is the key.

Student Success Statement: Japanese Proverd

                        Student Success Statement
“Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
                                           Japanese Proverb

Reflection: We don’t really expect our dreams to come true just naturally, we have to put action. For example you can be dreaming about being in a soccer team and making a goal but if you just sit there at home not practicing and not trying it’s just a daydream. Daydreams are dreams you have that don’t really come true unless you make them. But then there is action without vision. If we don’t even dream about becoming the person we are then it is a nightmare. Let’s say for some reason you became a lawyer but back then your vision was to become a doctor. It’s a nightmare for you because the one thing you will most likely say is “I wish.” Us as people need to put our actions and dreams together. We can’t sit around and except things to come to us because then there would be no meaning in life. We have to work and that’s just the way life is. We also have to make our dream come true and become what we want. You also can’t just take action and let it become a mess. Our actions and our visions matter. They are both something that really help us in life. Don’t just sit around dreaming of becoming something. Make it happen. Don’t make action until you are doing what your vision wants.

Students Success Statement: Anonymous Author

              Student Success Statement
“The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo ourselves.”
                       Anonymous Author

Reflection: Its best to not focus on how other people are doing and much more how we are. If someone is doing something awesome and big don’t try to do better because you end of finding that you don’t want to do that at all at the end you just want to be better. We have to outdo ourselves because we should do things we thought we couldn’t do. Perhaps you think you can’t loose weight, try to outdo yourself and do much more than you thought you can. You probably already figure “well you know I can’t work out much.” Well forget that try your best to do something amazing and outdo yourself not others. Other people are not going to have your success everyone has their own and its amazing in their eyes. Everyone is different. There is no use in trying to be better than someone else if we were created to be just ourselves. Outdo yourself. Suppose you’re addicted to the internet and you want to stop you say ill go 3 hours without touching it, outdo what you thought and go 6 hours. I think its best if we try and reach our goals by pushing ourselves and making ourselves get to it. Why would we try to outdo others? What do you gain? Yea you might end up being successful and doing it “better” than them but is that really what you were made for? We were made to do our own thing. Outdo yourself and do what you think you couldn’t do.

Student Success Statement: Michael Phelps

                  Student Success Statement
“You can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get”
                           Michael Phelps
                22 Olympic Medals (18 Gold)
Reflection: We cannot limit anything. Our dreams are unlimited. The bigger our dreams the better they are. If we limit ourselves to only one dream it might be one of the biggest mistakes you can make. For example you want to own your own store but you only ever focused on having that one store when really you had a whole lot of opportunities in front of you to make it a HUGE store. God made us to have big dreams not so we can limit ourselves, he can do anything so it’s almost like telling him he can’t make our dreams come true. Our dreams should not be small, we deserve the best. God wants us to dream big. We can do anything. Do you want to be successful or do you want to be the most successful person alive?

Student Success Statement; Thomas J. Watson

                   Student Success Statement
“If you want to achieve excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing less-than-excellent work.”
                             Thomas J. Watson
Reflection: Today we have a chance to change the way we see and do things. Most of the time we see things in a very negative way and do things without wanting to do them. We come to school and we see school as a boring thing and we complain about the work and how tired we are. We see our work as something we just have to do. We could try to be interested in it. Some of us do our classwork and homework very lazily. Sometimes we do everything lazily. We have a chance to change the way we do things. I personally don’t want to keep doing good things I want to do greater things, step out of my comfort zone. The greater the better. Our life is something God given and we should make something excellent of ourselves. We can’t just keep doing things lazily and without thinking. We can do anything. Our less-than-excellent work isn’t going to take us no where in life.

Philippians 4:13
King James Version (KJV)

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Student Success Statement: Greg Hickman

        Student Success Statement
Paint a masterpiece daily. Always autograph your work with excellence.”
                       Greg Hickman

Reflection: Every day that we live we should accomplish something, no matter how big or how small. Everything we do counts for something. If we go up to someone and tell them “hey have a great day.” you can make the persons day. That would be one of your masterpieces because what you did made someone one happy. You accomplished making someone happy and that is excellent. At the end of our life our whole masterpiece is going to be painted with all the good and bad things we do, big or small. All the bad things we do will be painted all the good things we do. Only the blood of Christ can wash away those paint marks of the bad. We are growing every single day and it is a gift. I want my masterpiece to be filled with all the great things I did. I ask jesus to clean the bad marks on my painting. We should all do something good daily. In the end our masterpiece is what is left behind.

Student Success Statement: Mr. Haymore

                           Student Success Statement
“Righteous community starts with ONE upright soul, whether it is a community or family members, students, neighbors, teammates, or business associates. Unity conquers worthy pursuits more quickly and with less effort than individual effort alone.”
                                         Mr. Haymore
Reflection: It takes one person to stand up and make a change. It takes one brave person to start making a change. For example, there is so much bullying in the school and there are some small groups of people at the schools going against it. If you want to make a change in your school or community all you have to do is stand up and speak up. If you do it many other people will want to join you. If you want to go against bullying at your school go talk to the principal and start a group to help prevent it. Us people can help prevent doing anything but we cant do it alone. We can all together prevent pollution or a dirty city. It’s not that hard all you have to do is speak up about it and gather some people to help you. If I have to be honest, when I become brave I might actually make a group against bullying. We can’t do it alone. So we must seek help from family members and help from members of our team.
“Righteous community starts with ONE upright soul, whether it is a community or family members, students, neighbors, teammates, or business associates. Unity conquers worthy pursuits more quickly and with less effort than individual effort alone.”

With the help from God we can have courage and faith. With God all things are possible.
Mathew 19:26

Student Success Statement: Anon TEAM

           Student Success Statement
     Together Everyone Achieves More
                                Anon

Reflection:  If you are in a sport you already know that winning the game does not on depend on you but on everyone. Winning the game wouldn’t be your accomplishment but the whole teams. Personally I believe that working in a team will help you in many ways. When we work alone sometimes we can get lazy and get distracted easily but having  people around you studying or working hard then you will to. Having a team means extra support and means you might have a bigger chance at getting things done. The cast and crew in movies wouldn’t of been able to put the movie together if they didn’t work together. Working together puts your goal together. We can’t do it alone all the time.

Student Success Statement: Sarah Real

                Student Success Statement
“Work as a team to achieve your dream”
                                         Sarah Real

Reflection: In my case my team would be my family and friends.  For any one I guess that would be their team. In someone else’s case you might not have family or friends but you still have someone. We can’t always do things on our own. We need the support from people. There’s a big difference though, from wanting to be what others want you to be and having support. If we complain about not having any support and not having anyone to talk to, we should make a team. Achieving your dream is one of the best feelings ever. For example how does a singer make a great concert? With the help of their crew members. That’s what we need. A crew. We can’t do it alone. With the help of God and our friends and family we can achieve our dream. With God all things are possible.
